Nowadays terrorism should be considered as a new power tool of foreign policy, and in this respect it can be used in two ways, said the vice-president of the Academy of Geopolitical Problems, Konstantin Sivkov. "The first goal is to destabilize the state, if it is impossible to wage war against it by other means, for various reasons. For example, Syria, and Libya in the early stages," the expert said.
"The second motivation is to use terrorism and terrorist organizations as a pretext for interfering regular troops in the affairs of the country. Classic examples are Iraq, Afghanistan, the attempt to do the same in Syria, and, of course, a classic example - Libya," he said.
"A terrorist organization consists of four levels: the actual terrorists, warlords, the forces that ensure their weapons and financing, and the forces involved in the goal-setting. There is no fight against the latter two. With the last two struggle is not conducted. I heard that they tried to strike at terrorist camps, but I never heard that a banker who finances them was arrested, or bombed the headquarters of terrorist organizations," Sivkov noted.
According to him, the "Arab Spring", consisting entirely of "instrumental" use of terrorism, revealed another interesting phenomenon. "In fact, the goals that the Western ideologues of the "Arab Spring" set themselves were not achieved. Control over the processes was lost and the Islamists took the lead." "The same picture can be seen today on the territory of Ukraine, only the forces that are seizing the initiative from the initial "authors" of Euromaidan are the neo-fascist organizations and right-wing radicals," Konstantin Sivkov said.
