Experts comment on new course of Ukraine

The Ukrainian protests have culminated in President Victor Yanukovych being ousted, the speaker of parliament restoring the 2004 Constitution, the release of ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and the announcement of snap presidential polls on May 25. The law on state language policy was scrapped, depriving Russian of the status of a regional government language.

Ukrainian political analyst Yuri Gorodnenko said that the laws passed by the parliament were illegal. He called the economic situation in Ukraine a fascist dialogue. He said that Crimea was less dependent on oligarchs than Donbass. The expert called the Budapest Memorandum a useless paper and said that the EU and Russia had no right to persuade Ukraine to initiate association.

Tamara Guzenkova, Deputy Director of the RISR, said that signing of any paper would change nothing. She called the actions of the Crimea and south-eastern areas of Ukraine the only legitimate actions. The analyst noted that the country was in an early stage of a civil war and pointed out elections of the mayor in Sevastopol as an example. She blames oligarchs for the riots and believes that they used crowds for personal gains.

Dolganov rules out a civil war. He reminded that there were geopolitical interests of the US and EU. The analyst believes that Turkey has the true vision of the events in Ukraine.
