Georgian ex-Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili has denied accusations of backdoor control over the new government. Ivanishvili noted that the government he had formed had been accusing him of being too public and honest. The ex-PM said that he had never imposed his point of view on anyone.
Petre Mamradze, Head of the Institute for Strategic Management, said that the Prime Minister Garibashvili was notable for absolute loyalty to Ivanishvili. The expert added that the president was also accused of being elected for the sake of Ivanishvili.
Political analyst Iosif Tsiskerishvili assumed that Ivanishvili put himself into the situation he was in. In his words, the ex-PM named his favourites and promoted them for the posts, including the Tbilisi mayor. Each of Ivanishvili’s candidates won. Tsiskarishvili pointed out that Ivanishvili, despite promises to remain an active public figure, had not made a single public announcement for months.
