Eka Kherkheulidze of the United National Movement of Georgia has warned on Facebook that the country should prepare for protests similar to those in Ukraine and the arrival of ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili.
Giga Bokeria, ex-Secretary of the National Security Council, Secretary of the United National Movement for International Relations, warned that the government in Georgia had taken “a very dangerous path” when it had summoned him for questioning.
Bokeria noted that Saakashvili was struggling to stop Russian aggression.
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Georgia summoned Saakashvili on March 22 to arrive at 1.00PM on March 27 for questioning over the Zurab Zhvania and Sandro Girgvliani cases.
Ramaz Sakvarelidze, a political analyst, says that the United National Movement was incapable of organizing anything comparable with the Euromaidan in Ukraine. If people ever gather for such high-scale protests, it would be a meeting against the Movement itself, assures the expert. He added that people would gladly lynch members of the United National Movement for all the sins and lies.
Concerning Saakashvili’s summon, Sakvarelidze goes on, the only surprise is why wasn’t the ex-president summoned earlier. The analyst notes that there are thousands of complaints filed against Saakashvili. The expert rules out chances of Saakashvili to become Georgia’s leader once more.
