Ukraine offended by Lukashenko's statements

Ukraine has recalled its ambassador to Belarus, Mikhail Yezhel, for consultations in connection with the statements of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on the status of Crimea, the director of the Department for information policy of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Evgenii Perebiynis, says today.

Yesterday Lukashenko said that now Crimea is "de facto" a part of Russia, RIA Novosti reports.

" In connection with the statements of President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko made on March 23, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry summoned the Ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus for consultations and the Belorussian side has received a corresponding note, which claims that such statements from the President of the Republic of Belarus are contrary to the generally recognized rules of international law and to the position of the majority of the world's countries," UNIAN news agency quotes Perebiynis.

As VK has already reported, Ukraine earlier recalled its ambassador to Armenia for consultations in connection with Yerevan's position on Crimea.
