Russian Foreign Ministry imposes sanctions on 13 Canadian officials

The Russian Foreign Ministry has announced sanctions against 13 senior Canadian officials, parliamentarians and public figures who have been denied access to the Russian Federation in connection with the Canadian sanctions over Ukraine and Crimea, the Russian Foreign Ministry says.

According to the document, the list, in particular, includes: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign and Defense Policy Christine Hogan; Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister, clerk of the Privy Council Wayne Wouters; Deputy Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister Jean- Francois Tremblay; Speaker of the House of Commons Andrew Scheer; head of the faction of the Conservative Party in the House of Commons Peter van Loan; and chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Senate of the Parliament Reynel Andreychuk, RIA Novosti reports.

Also among those denied entry to Russia are Dean Allison, the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development of the House of Commons; Paul Dewar, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development of the House of Commons; Irwin Cotler, Deputy Chairman of the Subcommittee on Human Rights Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development of the House of Commons; Ted Opitz, Member of House of Commons; Christia Freeland, member of the House of Commons; James Bezan, member of the House of Commons; and Paul Grod, the President of the Ukrainian-Canadian Congress.
