European Commissioner Connie Hedegaard will present proposals to the European Commission in Brussels tomorrow to simplify the visa regime for 22 members of the Schengen zone, Interfax reports.
Owners of Schengen visas will be allowed to stay in the zone for 90 days. Fewer documents will be needed to buy visas. They will also be issued online or when crossing the border.
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said that the Eastern Partnership program will be reconsidered. German, French and Polish foreign ministers will discuss cooperation with eastern partners today.
Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine are part of the Eastern Partnership. Owners of biometric passports in Moldova will be allowed to enter the Schengen zone for no more than 90 days, starting in May.
