CSTO head rules out deployment of Iskander-M in Kazakhstan

CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha stated that the Organization was not planning to deploy Iskander-M missiles in Kazakhstan or any other Central Asian country, ITAR-TASS reports.He clarified that Iskander-M was not the weapon to protect territory from Afghan threats. Bordyuzha named the four main threats from Afghanistan: instability, territory with large quantities of weapons, militant training camps and drug trafficking.The secretary general noted that NATO forces were still operating but they had failed to solve all problems in the region.Some mass media sources reported that Russia signed an agreement with Kazakhstan to deploy Iskander-M missiles in Central Asian republic. It was also mentioned that Russia will build warehouses for the missile systems 100km away from the Kazakh border.
