The Ankara Election Board has rejected Turkey's Republican People’s Party’s (CHP) appeal for a recount of the votes cast in Ankara, after the main opposition party complained about election fraud in numerous ballot boxes throughout the capital, Hürriyet Daily News reports.
The CHP’s mayoral candidate Mansur Yavaş has claimed they had found wrongdoings in the counting process of votes in multiple cases and argued he had beaten the ruling party’s candidate Melih Gökçek.
The CHP is expected to make a final appeal to the Supreme Election Board (YSK) on April 5 to recount the votes.
