Any kind of campaigning is prohibited in Ukraine on Saturday as the presidential elections are going to be held tomorrow. On the same day residents of Kyiv are going to vote for their mayor and in some regions, including Odessa, Mykolaiv and Kherson, municipal elections are going to take place.
21 people are taking part in the campaign. Former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko and billionaire Petro Poroshenko are among the frontrunners. If elected president, Poroshenko is also going to order early parliamentary elections.
The presidential elections in Ukraine were expected to take place in 2015, but the Ukrainian Parliament agreed to hold early polls after former president Viktor Yanukoych fled Kyiv following mass protests in the city.
The Parliament also restored the 2004 Constitution, according to which the president is deprived of some of his powers, including the right to form the cabinet.
