Computers for all Georgian first grade pupils.
The Georgian government will provide first grade pupils across
Georgia, as well as in Abkhazia and South Ossetia, with computers in
the new school year, reports The Georgian Times.
Minister for Reintegration Temur Yakobashvili put forward the
initiative at government session on reintegration, which took place in
Kutaisi. Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili supported the
proposal. He specified that from September 1, the Georgian government
will provide pupils with educational computers running special
programs.
"We are ready to provide pupils of the territories that have suffered
from intervention with such computers,” Saakashvili said.
“I would like to stress that there are no de facto authorities and
borders. There are territories occupied by Russia and occupation
authorities. With the assistance of the Swiss government we will make
an offer to the occupation authorities to grant these computers to the
children. We are ready to provide delivery to the occupied
territories, and they must provide the distribution of the computers,”
he went on.
"If the children of Georgia communicate via the Internet, it will
enable them to come together. And no instructions from Moscow can
hinder this process," Saakashvili added.
