Russian laws reduce migration of Uzbek and Tajik migrants

 

Head of the Russian Federal Migration Service Constantine Romodanovsky said that new laws had reduced the number of Uzbek migrants by 30% and Tajik migrants by 20% in the last 5.5 months. The number of violations of residency rules dropped by 25%. According to the Service, Russia had about 2.4 million Uzbek migrants, as of June 1, 2014.Russia passed about 30 migration-related laws in 2013. Uzbek migrants are not allowed to enter Russia for violating the residency terms of 90 days per every 180 days. The norm came into force on January 1.According to the decree of the Uzbek Cabinet on improvement of migration rules (adopted on February 6, 2014), Uzbek citizens will start using biometric passports for visits abroad on July 1, 2014.
