Georgian authorities have explained why the Russian State Duma deputy
Sergey Markov was not allowed to visit the country. The head of the
Georgian parliamentary committee for foreign relations, Akakiy
Minashvili, said that Markov has violated Georgian law several times
by visiting Abkhazian and Tskhinvali regions, ITAR-TASS reports.
Minashvili noted that foreigners are not allowed to enter occupied
territories without Georgian permission.
The leader of Georgian parliament majority Petre Tsiskarishvili made a
similar declaration.
Markov was part of the Russian delegation to Tbilisi to take part in
the committee for legal issues and human rights of the CE's Parliament
Assembly. The Russian delegation refused to take part in the committee
due to the incident.
