The Armenian and Iranian foreign ministers, Edward Nalbandian and
Manuchehr Mottaki, have demonstrated a readiness to develop bilateral
relations, News Armenia reports, citing the Armenian ministry.
Nalbandian emphasized that the official visit of Armenian President
Serzh Sargsyan to Iran in April 2009 and the agreements reached gave
an impulse to improving ties.
The sides also had talks on the work of the Armenian-Iranian
inter-governmental commission and its role in economic cooperation, as
well as the development and the realization of joint projects.
The ministers noted the importance of cultural festivals. They also
exchanged views on stimulating tourism. The ministers discussed
regional issues as well, including the Iranian nuclear program.
Nalbandian noted that Armenia is attentively monitoring the situation
around Iranian nuclear program and expressed hope that Iran and the
international society will come to an agreement.
the Armenian minister noted the balanced position of Tehran on the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Mottaki asked the Armenian minister of
foreign affairs to present the negotiation process.
