Turkey's CHP leader promises to step down if votes shrink

The leader of Turkey's main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, has said in an interview with Hürriyet that he will quit his seat if the party loses votes in next year’s parliamentary elections.

“A leader who loses a significant amount of votes should go. Certainly, the goal is winning, and I would leave if I experience a significant fall in votes," he said.

Kılıçdaroğlu also claimed that his leadership had achieved a considerable improvement in the CHP’s fortunes since taking over in 2010, Hürriyet reports.
