Turkey acquires new powers

 

Recep Tayyip Erdogan has officially taken up the post of president of Turkey. The inauguration took place in parliament, an extraordinary general assembly of which was called by the speaker Dzhemil Chichek.60-year-old Erdogan received the protocol about his election as president and took the oath. Thus, the 12th president of Turkey, elected on August 10 by national vote, officially entered office,  ITAR-TASS reports.Meanwhile, the legal part of the introduction of the president to the post isn't complete. At the initiative of Erdogan and his predecessor in the presidency Abdullakh Gül, the ceremony of delegation of power will take place in the residence of the Turkish leader. It isn't obligatory under the law, and in 2000 it was cancelled by Ahmet Necdet Sezer entering the president's office. Today this tradition will be revived.In one of his first decrees, the new president appointed one of his former colleagues, the Foreign Minister of the country Ahmet Davutoglu, as the acting prime minister of the country.Having replaced the newly-elected president in the post of head of the ruling Justice and Development Party on the eve of its congress, Davutoglu also voiced the main theses of the future development of Turkey, created in the form of a manifesto.At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Davutoglu declared on leaving post that for the last five years the foreign policy department had become stronger. In the speech he specified that the country now has every opportunity for more active negotiating with the EU.Ahmet Davutoglu voiced nine main directions to which the government will pay attention in the future.Self-sufficiency and confidence in its own strength is the foundation of the new Turkey," Davutoglu declared. According to him, the unity of the nation is one of the most important achievements of the last 12 years, "and while there is unity and confidence, no force will be able to resist Turkey."
