The Single Voting Day in Russia is over. All polling stations closed at 20:00 local time on Sunday, with the last ones closing at 21:00 Moscow time in Russia’s westernmost Kaliningrad region, ITAR-TASS reports.
Elections at various levels were held in all Russian regions, except the republic of Ingushetia. Elections were also held in two new Russian regions - Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. In all, the country saw about 5800 election campaigns and local referendums. About 75 million eligible voters have been registered across the country. Thirty Russian regions elected their heads and governors, 14 regions elected legislative assemblies, three administrative centres of Russian regions elected their mayors.
The voter turnout was generally low, but in some regions it exceeded 50% Thus, according to the Central Election Commission, this high turnout was reported from the gubernatorial elections in the Orel, Samara and Tyumen regions, and in elections for the heads of the republics of Komi and Kalmykia.
High turnout was registered at elections to legislative assemblies in the republic of Tuva - 67%, in the republic of Tatarstan - 69%, in the republic of Kabardino-Balkaria - 67%, and the republic of Karachay-Cherkessia - 66%.
According to exit poll results in central Russian regions and preliminary results of vote counting in the Far Eastern regions, the incumbent governors are winning more than 70% of the vote.
