US President Barack Obama will meet his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilkham
Aliyev in New York, media reports, citing the advisor of the US
president for national security Ben Rods.
The US president will arrive in New York on Wednesday to participate
in the UN summit for Millennium Development Goals. On Thursday Obama
will make a speech at the UN General Assembly for restoring global
economy, fighting Al-Qaeda, the promotion of non-proliferation of
nuclear arms and continuing the peace process in the Middle East.
Ilkham Aliyev is a US partner in many issues, including the
peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan, Rods noted. He also said that
Obama has meetings planned with the Chinese premier, the Japanese
premier, the Kyrgyz president, the Columbian president and leaders of
ASEAN (Association of South-East Asian Nations).
