Georgia reconsiders association agreement with EU

Georgian Prime MInister Irakli Garibashvili and Foreign Minister Maya Pandzhikidze have recently announced that the decision made by the country's lawmakers concerning a visa regime for foreign citizens in order to secure Georgia's integration into the EU would be revised.

The statements came after Georgian television broadcast a number of interviews with outraged students, investors and various specialists, blaming the new regulations.

The ban on issuing visas right on the Georgian border has mainly angered Georgia's nearest neighbours the Armenians, Azerbaijanis and Turks.

The situation has forced cabinet members to reconsider the advantages and disadvantages of the country's European integration.

Nevertheless, the population seems happy and supports the pro-EU line of the authorities.
