Russian security chief and Tajik president discuss security in Central Asia

The secretary of the Russian Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev, has discussed the impact of the Afghan factor on the situation in Central Asia, the Tajik-Afghan border, information security, the importance of joint efforts to fight terrorism, trafficking of weapons and drugs, development of military cooperation and modernization of the Tajik armed forces, TASS reports.

Patrushev met his Tajik counterpart Abdurakhim Kakharov yesterday. The latter said that he had a serious discussion of the situation in Afghanistan in the light of NATO’s withdrawal.

Patrushev visited the 210th Russian military base on Friday. He laid flowers at a memorial to soldiers and met WWII veterans.
