Russian employers may start paying 1.8% of social insurance for foreigners

The Russian Duma committee for labour, social policy and veterans has recommended the parliament to pass a bill obliging employers of foreign workers to pay 1.8% of fees to the social insurance fund, starting in 2015, TASS reports.

The bill would grant foreign workers medical insurance, medical leave (if they spent 6 months working, this detail may be removed from the final version of the bill so that some employers would not make 5-month contracts).

Maternity benefits will only be paid to migrants with temporary residency permits in Russia.
