A Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) delegation headed by Deputy Secretary General Valery Semerikov has begun work in Bishkek,
the capital of Kyrgyzstan, RIA Novosti said, citing the CSTO press-secretary.
Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev has fled Bishkek for the south of the country after protest riots that led to the opposition forming a
provisional government. The new authorities have announced the dissolution of parliament and have assumed the functions of the
president and the cabinet. However, Bakiyev has said he will not resign.
According to CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Borduzh, the main problems facing the CSTO representatives are to stop the violence, to promote
the organization of dialogue between the parties concerning establishing peace in the republic and to prepare a report for the
Collective Security Council.
The CSTO includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
