Baku is the strategic partner of Moscow, the head of the Russian State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs, Alexei Pushkov, told Vestnik Kavkaza.
"Azerbaijan is friendly toward Russia. Relations between the two countries are very good. This applies to both the political and the economic spheres. However, Azerbaijan has no plans to enter into an integration association with us or be bound by additional obligations," Pushkov said.
Speaking about the relations between Moscow and Yerevan, Pushkov noted that Armenia is Russia's ally.
"Armenia is a member of the CSTO. It has decided to join the Customs Union. As I understand it, we are talking about Yerevan's membership in the Eurasian Economic Union, which will become effective on January 1, 2015," he said.
He called Russia's relations with Georgia the most difficult for Russia in the South Caucasus.
"In my opinion, Georgia is introducing unnecessary tension in relations with Moscow, which are getting better, when it does political demarches about the security arrangements that Russia signed with Abkhazia," Pushkov said, adding that the agreements in question are simply confirming the status quo.
