Georgia does not mind having ex-ministers serve in Ukraine

Spokesman of the Georgian Foreign Ministry David Kereselidze said that the republic was fine with the appointments of ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili’s ministers as ministers in Ukraine. He emphasized that the Ukrainian government had been formed and Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili’s visit to Kiev should start as soon as possible. He reminded that Ukraine was a strategic partner of Georgia.

Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze said that Georgia respected the choice of Ukraine. In his words, Alexander Kvitashvili had become the healthcare minister of Ukraine, while Eka Zguladze had been appointed as a deputy interior minister. Kaladze noted that the appointment of Mikheil Saakashvili as a vice prime minister and Zurab Adeishvili as the head of the Anti-Corruption Service was dubious because prosecutors had questions to ask them.

Kakha Gogolashvili, the head of the Center for European Studies, said in an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza that the appointments should not have a negative impact on relations between Georgia and Ukraine, unless the Georgian Dream coalition starts tensions. The expert noted that the two states had common interests and goals.
