Jordan has asked help from Turkey in an attempt to rescue a Jordanian pilot captured by Islamic State militants (IS). With this request, the Jordanian government has appealed to Turkey's Embassy in Amman. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Turkish National Intelligence Agency have begun to review the details of the incident, TASS reports referring to the Turkish newspaper "Hurriyet".
On December 24th a Royal Jordanian Air Force pilot performed combat missions for strikes at IS positions in the area of the Syrian city of Raqqa.
According to the Air Force, the aircraft was shot down and the pilot was captured by militants.
Raqqa city was captured by the IS in March 2013 and proclaimed the capital of an "Islamic caliphate."
