The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, sees no threat of gangs being reinforced by militants who are fighting on the side of Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
"This is no such a threat. And to no purpose we scare ourselves with ISIL," Interfax quotes Kadyrov.
"We have in the ranks of these terrorist hordes a good intelligence network. This allows us to track the movements of those who are of interest to us," he said. "Moreover, it allows us to send on an eternal trip with a one-way ticket those who, even in jest, direct guns towards Russia."
The Chechen leader added: "The danger for Russia and the world is that the United States and Western countries have turned the Middle East region into a giant springboard for terrorist training."
Last summer hitmen of ISIL captured significant territory in the north and west of Iraq, as well as some territory in Syria. International coalition forces have been inflicting strikes on their positions since August in order to stop the offensive of the Islamists.
