Palestine intends "in a week" to try to return to the UN Security Council draft resolution to end the Israeli occupation and establish an independent state. This was stated by President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas.
"We are discussing this issue with our brothers in Jordan, who are closest to us. Their country is a member (non-permanent) of the Security Council, and we consult with them to re-return to the discussion of the project at the United Nations," he is quoted by TASS. According to Abbas, the Palestinians' will come back to this issue for a third, and for a fourth time - until their rights will be recognized."
"It is not the Palestinians who lost, but the Security Council, so we, in spite of the pressures, petitioned the admission of Palestine to the International Criminal Court (ICC) and submitted applications for its accession to more than 20 international conventions and covenants," said the head of Palestine.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in his turn, accused the Palestinians of "moving toward confrontation" and said that his office "is not to sit idly by." Earlier, the Israeli authorities decided to freeze the transfer of 500 million shekels (over US $127 million) of tax revenues collected on behalf of Palestine in December. This happened after Abbas had signed the petition on accession to the International Criminal Court.
