Russia expects to find salvation from crisis in industry

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said today that anti-crisis measures were ready for implementation in industry. Vice prime ministers, Presidential Aide Andrey Belousov, officials of the financial and economic section of the government, Minister for Finances Anton Siluanov, Minister for Economic Development Alexey Ulyukayev, President of the Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina were attending the meeting with Medvedev. 

The final variants of initiatives for recovery from the crisis will be sent to President Vladimir Putin. The PM noted the need to assess the potentials of the federal and regional budgets, and come up with balanced measures to solve economic problems. He mentioned the readiness to take measures to stimulate demands for products, maintain production volumes and resolve the most topical industrial problems. In his words, enterprises planning to keep their pace or increase output should be the primary targets for assistance. 

Medvedev clarified that a plan for import displacement will have been approved by July. It will contain “substandard” solutions. The prime minister wants to list national products that could boost industrial output and save resources. He expressed confidence that project financing, the industrial development fund, state purchases and other instruments will be used to support industry and exports.
