Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that the country intends to be a world energy center and uses all opportunities.
He noted that now Turkey is implementing a number of energy projects with importance for the energy security of Europe, and one of these projects is The Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline (TANAP), Trend reports.
The TANAP project envisages gas transportation from Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz field, the Georgian-Turkish border to the western border of Turkey. The initial capacity of TANAP is expected to reach 16 billion cubic meters of gas per year. Around six billion cubic meters will be delivered to Turkey and the rest of the volume to Europe.
Turkey will obtain gas in 2018 and the gas will be supplied to Europe in early 2020 after the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) is constructed.
