U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry may visit Moscow on February 4-5.
The sides during the meeting will discuss a number of pressing issues in bilateral relations, including the arrest of a banker accused of working as a Russian spy.
"The Russian and American sides have been looking at the possibility of such contacts for several days, but the visit has not yet been confirmed. If the sides agree all the aspects, it will be the first visit by the U.S. top diplomat to Moscow since May 2013," Kommersant daily writes.
In addition, the ministers will discuss a number of other pressing international problems - the situation in the Arab-Israeli peace process and the Iranian nuclear program, the situation in Syria and international efforts to combat Islamic State.
