Susan Rice: US against demands for Iran permanently to renounce enrichment of uranium

US does not support the demand for the complete renunciation by Iran of enriching uranium on its territory, American National Security Adviser Susan Rice said.

"We cannot let a totally unachievable ideal stand in the way of a good deal," the White House official said, speaking at the Conference Committee on American-Israeli Public Affairs.

"I know that some of you will be urging Congress to insist that Iran forego its domestic enrichment capacity entirely," she said. "But it is neither realistic nor achievable," Rice added.

Rice said that even their closest international partners in the P5+1 do not support denying Iran the ability ever to pursue peaceful nuclear energy. At the same time, she assured that the US will not conclude a "bad deal" with Iran. "A bad deal is worse than no deal. And if that is the choice there will be no deal," the assistant to the head of the US administration said.

Commenting on the current state of US-Israeli relations, Rice declared that this is an "unbreakable friendship between our two peoples." "The relationship between the United States and the State of Israel is not a partnership between individual leaders or political parties. It’s an alliance between two nations," TASS cited her.
