Azerbaijani FM meets President of Slovenian ParliamentAzerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov on Tuesday received a delegation led by the President of the National Assembly of Slovenia, Mitja Bervar. Elmar Mammadyarov said that Azerbaijan and Slovenia have favorable conditions to boost their bilateral cooperation in the areas of energy, economy and trade, investment, culture and sports.The minister also said that Azerbaijan attaches special importance to developing its relations with the Balkans.Mammadyarov noted the existence of historical ties between Azerbaijan and Slovenia, noting that it is noteworthy of the Slovenian people honoring the memory of Mehdi Huseynzadeh along with other Azerbaijanis who bravely fought for the liberation of Slovenia from fascism.Mammadyarov then mentioned the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, saying that any attempts to change internationally recognized borders of states are unacceptable and that all states must respect the norms and principles of international law.Bervar, in his turn, mentioned a declaration adopted by Slovenia’s legislative authority on the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, pointing out that the declaration backs a peaceful solution to the conflict, in line with the UN Security Council’s resolutions through the mediation of the OSCE Minsk Group. Also he promised that Slovenian athletes will participate in the first European Games in large numbers, Interfax-Azerbaijan reports.
