Israeli opposition leader Yitzhak Herzog has condemned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to Congress, saying the speech will not stop Iran's nuclear program.
"The truth is that the speech, as impressive as it was, did not prevent a nuclear Iran and won’t have an impact on the deal that is being drafted – not on its content, nor on its timetable," Herzog said.
"The painful truth is that, after all the applause, Netanyahu is alone and Israel is isolated, and the negotiations will continue without Israel’s input. The speech sabotaged Israel’s relations with the US. It will not change the view of the administration, only deepen the rift with our strategic ally," RIA Novosti cited him as saying.
Netanyahu supporters give an opposite assessment of the performance. "The Prime Minister very clearly explained to the world what the danger is in having a nuclear Iran. There, at the center of the world, we saw widespread support for Israel and for Netanyahu's message. Clearly, the goal is achieved," Yisrael Katz said.
