Matvienko: Crimea and Sevastopol have been integrated into Russian legal sphere

The task of integrating Crimea and Sevastopol into the legal sphere of Russia in one year has been resolved, now the new economic development of the Russian regions comes to the fore, the chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko said, noting that a year has passed since the reunification of Crimea and Sevastopol with Russia.

"We had a tight schedule to take the unprecedented decision to establish a legal framework for the full integration of Crimea and Sevastopol into the legal and economic and financial space of Russia. This process was not without problems, however, today, in retrospect, we can confidently say that the transition period is over, and everything that the federal authorities and legislators planned is being done in the formation of the necessary regulatory framework," the speaker said, Interfax reports.

Today, in her opinion, the main task is to ensure the economic development of Crimea and Sevastopol with the creation of the necessary infrastructures for the sustenance of the citizens of these two subjects.

"Equally important is the task of the construction of the Kerch Bridge, we need to create all the conditions for the self-sufficient operation of Crimea and Sevastopol," the speaker thinks. "It is necessary to stimulate the existing potential, in particular to develop small and medium-sized business, which has very good prospects, especially in the field of development tourism, including health tourism."

"The federal authorities have an understanding of how it should be done, although it will take more than one year, and, most importantly, considerable financial investments are needed, so this unique region can work at full capacity and refuse subsidies. There are all the prerequisites for this," Matvienko is confident.
