Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and his Iraqi counterpart Haider al-Abadi discussed measures to combat the terrorist organization Islamic State (IS) during a telephone call.
Davutoglu stressed that Ankara is ready to assist Baghdad for ensuring stability in Iraq, Trend reports.
Islamic State penetrated Syria’s territory in 2013. The organization said that it refuses to take the oath of Al-Qaeda and has declared a “holy war” against all groups and government forces of Syria.
In late June of 2014, IS announced the creation of an ‘Islamic Caliphate’ on the territories under its control in Iraq and Syria. The Iraqi authorities asked the international community for help in fighting IS.
