The parliament of Stavropol Territory has passed a bill restricting sales of alcohol in cafes and restaurants of the region after 11.00pm. Caterers with emergency buttons, proper video monitoring and licensed security will not be affected by the law, TASS reports.
The law will come into force on June 1. It was noted in parliament that about 950 caterers had licenses for selling alcohol, 780 of them had proper security systems.
The bill was proposed by lawmakers of Buddenovsk under the inspiration of Stavropol Governor Vladimir Vladimirov. The latter proposed restriction of alcohol sales due to a mass fight resulting in a death in Mineralniye Vody in September 2014. Alcohol sales in some cities of the region were restricted until 11.00pm, only to be lifted soon after.
The document was passed in its first reading on January 29. New amendments to the document continue emerging.
