Representatives of the special services of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) have met in Tashkent to discuss joint measures to address the challenges and threats posed by terrorist organization Islamic State.
In addition, representatives of the SCO member states will discuss the accounting of persons travelling to regions with increased terrorist activity to take part in armed conflict on the side of international terrorist organizations, and then returning to the territory of SCO member states.
Participants of the meeting will discuss joint exercises to curb the use of the Internet for terrorist, separatist and extremist purposes, as well as a draft convention of the SCO to combat extremism.
The meeting will be attended by representatives of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as the Executive Committee of the RATS SCO.
The Russian delegation at the meeting in Tashkent is headed by First Deputy Director of the Federal Security Service of Russia Sergey Smirnov. The delegation also includes the deputy director of the FSB, the head of the National Anti-Terrorist Committee Eugene Sysoev; the head of International Cooperation Valery Domnin; representatives of other law enforcement agencies of Russia.
