Iran could get to Geneva-3

"It is important that all those who have an influence on the conflict in Syria be included in discussions. As to the exact list of those who will be invited to this new effort, it has not yet been decided," TASS cited the official representative of the UN Secretary General, Stephane Dujarric.

The Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Syria, Staffan de Mistura, will "proceed with a series of in-depth, separate consultations with the Syrian stakeholders and regional and international actors." This is necessary to take stock of their views as of today on the Geneva Communiqué.According to Dujarric, "there's no preliminary agreement" on the meetings in Geneva. The representative of the Secretary General didn't answer the question of what the UN plans to achieve in the new round of consultations. "We've already gone through this. The conflict in Syria has been going on for the fifth year, and we're not going to promise anything, to tell you what's going to come at the end of it. What motivates it is the clear understanding that for the good of the Syrian people and the region, we need to find a political agreement," he said. The Secretary General said that De Mistura's plan to achieve a local truce in Aleppo remains on the table, although discussion on the implementation of the initiative was to no avail. "We're going to keep trying and going at this from different angles. The one thing we cannot do is just sit idle," Dujarric said.
