Geneva concluded the 13th round of negotiations this Thursday, aimed at normalization of the situation in Georgia after the Russian-Georgian war in August 2008. One of the three co-chairs of the talks, Special Representative of the UN on Georgia Antti Turunen, perceived negative signals in the discussions, Georgia Online reports, citing UN radio.
Turunen’s statement was made at a press-conference with Special EU Representative Pierre Morel and Special Envoy of the OSCE chairman Bolat Nurgaliyev.
Members of the working group on security and stability described the situation as peaceful but fragile. Special attention was paid to the EU report on missing people. They approved Russia’s decision to close the control point in Perevi. But they expressed regret that some participants did not attend the session of the working group on humanitarian issue. at which the issue of forced migrants was discussed.
The next session in Geneva will be held on December 16.
