Preparation of an agreement on Iran's nuclear program has become one of the main topics of the talks between US President Barack Obama and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is on a visit to the US capital, White House spokesman Josh Earnest said, adding that the fight against Islamic State and the situation in Yemen were also discussed.
The US president and the Crown Prince, who is a deputy supreme commander of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces, "considered a number of issues of regional security, including a long-term deal to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon," Ernest said. "This is obviously an issue of significant concern to a country like the United Arab Emirates," TASS cited him as saying.
The White House spokesman also said that Washington appreciated the cooperation with the UAE in the fight against terrorism, in particular against IS and al-Qaida.
It is planned that Obama will discuss all these issues with the leaders of the Arab states of the Persian Gulf on May 13-14 at Camp David.
