Russia does not need to deploy nuclear weapons on the Crimean peninsula, the President's authorized representative to the Crimean Federal District, Oleg Belavenetsev, said.
"There is no need to deploy nuclear weapons in Crimea. We have enough weapons to keep the enemy where he is. We have enough of these weapons, which are placed on nuclear submarines and other locations," Kryminform cited him as saying.
So Crimea will remain "a nuclear-free zone" in the future.
"In Crimea, on behalf of the President, we will create a recreational area and will develop Crimea for Russians and visitors from abroad," Belavenetsev noted.
