New York celebrates Victory Day

Festivities dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War were held on Saturday at the Patriarchal estate in Pine Bush (New York), and was attended by over three hundred people.

 

The celebration began with a solemn liturgy in the Church of All Saints Resplendent in the Russian Land, which took place after the procession to worship crosses especially erected for the occasion of the anniversary. It was established with the blessing of Patriarch Kirill to commemorate the victims of the Great Patriotic War. This procession, as the member of the Coordination Council of Russian Compatriots (KSORS) Igor Kochan said, was attended by veterans, activists of the action Immortal Regiment, local parishioners, members of the society Russian Youth of America ​​and the American Historical Club '193rd Motorized Infantry Division', Tass reports.

 

The ceremony at the memorial cross was finished with a salute from weapons, which was made by the members of the Historical Club, who brought their "front-line rifles." Then American enthusiasts, dressed in uniforms of the Red Army during World War II, built a small military camp, where they were represented by various military attributes of the 70-year-old war, including weapons. The celebration finished with fireworks, said Kochan, "a Victory Salute, which boomed for the first time, at least in New York."
