In the United States the president's powers will be expanded in the field of international trade agreements. The relevant bill was approved by the Senate.
Obama said, "this is an important step towards confidence that the US can hold strong to meet the high standards of trade agreements," RIA Novosti reported.
In a statement, the President noted that this initiative will give prospects for the middle class, will create new opportunities for American workers, allow to set the rules of global trade in a way favorable for US business, and increase imports of US products abroad.
62 senators voted for the adoption of a legislative initiative, 37 opposed it. The bill provides for the current and future special powers at the conclusion of international trade agreements to the US president.
