Alparslan Bayraktar has been elected as the new chairman of the International Confederation of Energy Regulators (ICER) at the 6th World Forum on Energy Regulation in Istanbul, RIA Novosti reports.
Bayraktar has a bachelor’s degree gained at Istanbul Technical University and a master’s degree from Bilkent University. He studied strategic marketing and management at New York University. Bayraktar chairs the Energy Regulators Regional Association (ERRA) in Turkey.
ICER was founded in October 2009 to encourage cooperation of world energy regulators. It focuses on informing the public about national energy regulators, monitoring electricity and gas markets and protecting consumers.
Bayraktar succeeds Lord John Mogg in the post.
