NATO has started a project entitled "Partnership for Peace — trust fund“. The project involves clearing Georgia of all explosive devices and aiding the injured. The head of the NATO office in Georgia, Zbignev Rybatski, said that the project will help Georgian sappers with training and equipment, Georgia Online reports.
The project also involves the establishment of a center at the military hospital in Gori to treat people injured by explosive devices.
The project is worth 2.8 million euros and will last 15 months. It will be realized by the NATO Maintenance and Supply Agency.
The leading countries in the project are the Czech Republic, Estonia and Lithuania. Australia, Bulgaria, Norway, Spain, Latvia contributed to the project's budget. Most of the budget was provided by the USA.
