Turkmenbashi is hosting negotiations between Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and his Turkmenistan counterpart Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Berdimuhamedov said that both Russia and Turkmenistan have mutual interest in partnership, PRIME-TASS reports.
He said that Turkmenistan is devoted to stable security based on balance of interests in Central Asia. All the Caspian issues should be resolved by Caspian states.
Berdimuhamedov said that Russia is one of the largest economic partners of Turkmenistan. The trade turnover in the first 9 months this year reached $1.857 billion, it dropped comparing with 2009 due to reduction of natural gas export to Russia. Russia shows interest in agricultural purchases as well, he said.
Medvedev said that Caspian states are capable of solving their own problems themselves. The president said that he agrees with the importance of developing Caspian cooperation.
Berdimuhamedov said that Turkmenistan will continue increasing gas supplies to Russia, which he called an old partner.
