CIS defence ministers discuss future military cooperation

The Defense Ministers Council (DMC) of the CIS member-states has discussed a number of issues regarding celebrations for the 65th anniversary of victory in World War Two, as well as more than 25 other matters of mutual military cooperation, reports Interfax.

Ministers drafted a plan for the joint celebration of Victory Day on May 9 and also coordinated activities for next year, declared to be the year of war veterans.
They also came to an agreement on joint work in the military-memorial sphere until 2015, the DMC chairman said.

They also discussed the top-priority goals of military cooperation.

The defense ministers of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldavia, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine took part in the session.

The Ukrainian delegation was invited as an observer. Due to recent developments in Kyrgyzstan, the permanent Kyrgyz representative in the DMC, General Maitam Musiev, took part in the session
