The Turkish National Security Council has approved a new national strategy, adding cyber security threats for the first time, RIA Novosti reports, citing local media.
The new strategy, called ‘The Red Book’, was examined at the Security Council this Wednesday. ‘The Red Book’ took into account Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s policy, excluding Russia, Greece, Iran and Iraq from the list of main external threats.
The strategy is traditionally prepared by the General Staff and passed after being viewed by the National Security Council. Changes are introduced gradually. Islamic radicalism, separatism and activities of
leftist groups were internal threats for a long time. The main external threat to Turkey now is international terrorism.
Premier Erdogan initiated changes to the strategy in February this year.
