On Sunday the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Professor Ahmet Davutoğlu, has called on Iraqi political groups to overcome the political deadlock that has gripped the country, as he visited the Kurdish north exactly eight months since Iraq's inconclusive elections, the Turkish news agency Hurrieyt reports.
Ahmet Davutoğlu told reporters that he is in Iraq to consult with the country's major political players on how to break the impasse over who should lead the country after the March 7 parliamentary vote produced no clear winner.
"We hope to see all Iraqi ethnic and political groups gathered around a table soon to pave the way for the formation of a government in this country," Davutoğlu said in Arbil.
