Russian president moves gambling zone from Rostov Region

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has signed a federal law excluding
the Rostov Region from the list of gambling zones, RIA Novosti
reports.

The Krasnodar Territory earlier proposed moving Azov, located in
Krasnodar Territory and Rostov Region, to the free territory of the
Black Sea coast of Russia to improve economic efficiency. The head of
the State Duma committee for economic policy Yevgeny Fedorov said that
the Rostov Region lags behind in the joint construction of the
gambling zone with Krasnodar Territory.

According to the law, Russia may have four gambling zones on
territories of five regions: one in the Altai and Primorskiy
territories and one in the Kaliningrad Region and one in Krasnodar
Territory and the Rostov Region.

Senator Alexander Pochinok, one of the project's authors, said earlier
that Krasnodar managed to organize a gambling zone with two casinos
operating. Rostov part of the south gambling zone is proposed to be
moved to Blagoveshenskaya Spit. This will in no way affect the
children's resorts in Anapa.

He also said that there will be a transport scheme: airport -
Blagoveshenskaya Spit, bridge between Caucasus and Crimea.
The document was passed by the State Duma on October 22, 2010 and
approved by the Federal Council on October 27.
